Jo Henderson at Optimism Psychotherapy & Supervision Services

Military & Service Connections

As the proud child of a dedicated military serviceman in the Royal Navy, I understand firsthand the sacrifices and challenges that come with serving in the military. My father's commitment to duty, often requiring periods away from home, instilled in me a profound appreciation for the importance of mental well-being in the military community. Drawing from my personal experiences and my clinical expertise, I am deeply committed to providing compassionate and effective support to those who serve and their families.

My Experience

I have more than 24 years of experience working within the NHS, delivering psychotherapeutic interventions to people with a range of difficulties within both primary and secondary care, in groups and individually. I have undergone expert training in multiple therapy models which allows me to offer a diverse range of therapy and supervision styles. As an NHS clinical Manager I have experience delivering supervision in both individual and group settings to other health professionals providing psychotherapy for both long term conditions and time sensitive care. I also have experience in delivering training mental health specific training to professional groups.

My Commitment to You

I am humbled by someone’s decision to enter into therapy and I can offer a safe, respectful and compassionate space where we can work together to achieve your goals.  I am able to utilise my knowledge and experience of multiple therapy models in order to offer an approach that is flexible and suited to your needs.  It is really important to me that I have a good understanding of your difficulties so that I can work alongside you to help you make any changes necessary to improve your wellbeing.
